The high level of configurability make the Sako TRG M10 308 Winchester Sniper Rifle an extremely versatile platform, easily converting from a true long-range precision sniper rifle to a more compact piece of equipment for urban terrain. The TRG M10 currently offers the option of three different calibers and all in multiple barrel lengths and each of the calibers feature a high-capacity magazine.
SAKO TRG M10 308 WINCHESTER SNIPER RIFLE OVERVIEW
The TRG M10 features a fully adjustable rear stock, tactical indicators and ambidextrous controls, comfortably in reach of the firing hand. There is no need for conventional workshop tools as all necessary tools for the configuration, barrel or caliber change are included in the rifle. The bolt handle of the Sako TRG M10 includes a built in hook wrench and torx key. Additional torx keys are located in the tool compartment in the lower receiver for easy field replacements and quick changes.
SAKO TRG M10 FULLY ADJUSTABLE REAR STOCK
The Sako TRG M10 comes with a fully adjustable rear stock. It comes in variants folding either to right or left side of the weapon. All adjustments can be done rapidly without the use of any tools. They can also be securely locked down, when required, by using tools provided inside the weapon. The pistol grip has interchangeable back straps in three different sizes (small, medium and large), which are all included in the standard package. At the 6:00 position, the stock has a MIL-STD-1913 rail for the attachment of a rear hook or rear mono-pod. The weapon comes standard with a rear hook/rail cover protecting the shooter’s hand when firing. The Recoil pad is a new, patented innovation providing superb recoil reduction and shooting comfort. It also has an elevation adjustment for further comfort and consistency. The length of pull on the stock can be adjusted in 6mm increments while the height of the cheek-piece adjust in finer 3mm increments. Both adjustments are spring loaded.
SAKO TRG M10 BARREL & TACTILE INDICATORS
True to the Sako Brand all barrels are hammer forged. However unlike the TRG barrels that are manufactured from chrome-moly steel, the TRG M10 uses stainless steel. All TRG M10 barrels are precision crowned and threaded with a muzzle cap. The stainless steel barrels are finished with a dull, non reflective and durable phosphate coating.
The Sako TRG M10 has distinctive visual and tactile indicators for respective calibers. Identification of caliber specific components can be done from grooves on barrels and bolt bodies and circles on magazine base plates. Uniquely designed tactical indicators help identify different modular components for different calibers, where every caliber-depending component is specially marked so users can recognize the caliber of each part visually or by touch. One groove / circle for .308 Win, two grooves / circles for .300 Win Mag and three grooves / circles for .338 Lapua Mag.
SAKO TRG M10 BOLT & RECEIVERS
Standard to the TRG line of rifles, the TRG M10 bolt also has three locking lugs and a mammoth Sako extractor that is even wider than the TRG 42. The TRG M10 bolts are black in all the caliber configurations and carry the tactile indicators specific to the caliber. The 60° degree opening angle for fast bolt throw, dual ejectors and robust bolt handle can withstand even the roughest handling. Each caliber has its own barrel, bolt and magazine.
The receiver comes standard with a 30 MOA Picatinny rail for the mounting of Optics. It also has a compartment in the lower receiver where additional torx keys are stored for field configurations.
SAKO TRG M10 TRIGGER MECHANISM
In 2013 the Sako also introduced a new trigger mechanism for both the Sako TRG M10 and Sako 42 models. The new trigger mechanism ensures improved safety measures in case the rifle is accidentally dropped. It also features a new safety lever, which is ergonomically positioned and designed to make it faster and more convenient to use. The robust, fully adjustable trigger unit can be adjusted between 2.2 and 4.4 pounds. The shooter can also change the sear adjustment for single or two stage use. The trigger unit can be detached from the weapon for maintenance and adjustment without further disassembly of the weapon.
SAKO TRG M10 AMBIDEXTROUS CONTROLS
Ambidextrous controls of the weapon are well within reach of the firing hand and large enough to be operated with gloves on.
SAKO TRG M10 FRAME
The totally free floating fore-end is available in two different lengths, short or long, allowing weight and balance optimization with the different barrel lengths. Both fore-end length options are available in the three colors, Green, Coyote Brown or Black. The fore-end has multiple positions for MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny-Rails to match the operational requirement and chosen accessories. One of the biggest advantages is that the fore-end also doubles as an effective heat shield around the barrel distributing the heat mirage away from the optical center line. It has a full length picatinny rail in the 12:00 position which is ideal mounting platform for any inline night vision or thermal imaging device. It also has a detachable full length rail in the 6:00 position for the mounting of various types of bi-pods, tripods or other accessories.
SAKO TRG M10 .308 WINCHESTER MAGAZINES
The double stack detachable magazines have a stainless steel body and polymer base plate with a rubberized surface texture for enhanced grip and easier manipulation under all conditions. External dimensions of magazines are similar in all the different calibers for easier transition when changing between calibers. Magazines are also marked with tactile indicators for rapid identification. The magazine holds 11 rounds in the 308 Winchester. Alternatively cartridges can be singly loaded directly into the chamber.
